Taking A Shine to Solar Energy

Go Solar!

Solar energy is the solution to so many of today’s problems. Electricity and all kinds of energies are very expensive, whereas solar energy is paid for when installed and never thereafter. Since nobody owns or controls solar power, nobody gets paid for it, so all that the consumer pays for is the installation of the panels. Plus, solar power is natural, renewable, and non-polluting, which is a very useful, and green alternative to fossil fuels. Pollution is a constant worry to most a lot of people, so this is one way to keep the air pure.

Another great thing about solar power is that it is available all over the world, because the sun goes up and comes down everywhere in the world. And yes, it is available at nighttime with the help of some sort of energy storage system.

Solar panels are very interesting devices, they are made from two wafers, one positive, one negative, and some fine wires in between. These panels use Photovoltaic (or PV) energy. PV cells are most commonly made from a special kind of silicon. In the form of sand or quartz, silicon is one of the most common elements found on earth.

But how does it work? The sun shines onto the solar panels and causes electrons to travel between the panels and make power for us to use. It sounds simple, right? Well, that’s because it is! So is there anything really stopping you from using solar power? After all, it’s renewable, non-polluting, and there are no overtime costs. Go green! Go solar!
